Jerry Joynes

1964
2006

Jerry left WROV in 1964, thinking that "ten years is enough" and that it was time for something new. He did Virginia Tech sports broadcasts for a while, then ended up at WDBJ Radio which later became WFIR. Jerry was well known during those days for his afternoon radio show and for his broadcasts of all the "away" Roanoke Valley Rebels hockey games. He left WFIR in 1983.

He's now retired, living in Florida, and spends his days listening to music, playing golf and watching sports on TV.
